ACCA Student Symposium Plenary Speaker

The 2024 ACCA Student Symposium is 9 days away! 

The plenary speaker this year is Dr. Stephen Maynard Caliendo who is Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College.  The title of Dr. Caliendo talk is “Challenges with Researching Race: Focus on the 2024 US Elections”.  Dr. Caliendo’s research expertise is in political psychology, political communication, and race and ethnicity studies. Dr. Caliendo is co-founder and co-director of The Project on Race in Political Communication and is often asked to provide media commentary on national and local political news programs. 

The Symposium will be held on the Romeoville campus of Lewis University.  Registration is still open, and organizers are still accepting abstracts.  There are currently 80+ registered for the event.  Registration is free.  Individuals can register at: https://accastudentsymposium2024.sched.com. If you’re interested in presenting multiple posters/oral presentations, please register one using the website.  Send an e-mail to cwhite10@lewisu.edu stating that you’re interested in presenting more than once, providing the additional titles and abstracts in the e-mail.  Alternately, you can register a second time using an alternate Sched username and e-mail. 

Coffee, tea, and snacks will be provided upon your arrival, beginning at 8:45 AM.  A buffet lunch also will be served.  Gluten free and vegan options will be provided.   Upon arrival at Lewis University, please make your way to the University Dining Room, which is in building #12 on the map linked here.  You may use any university parking lot.  A parking permit is not required.  If you’re presenting a poster, please arrive no later than 8:30 so that you have time to mount your poster.  Locations will be assigned and e-mailed to presenters next week. 

Students who are not presenting are also welcome to attend to support peers or to explore future participation. Faculty planning to attend are also reminded to register so that an appropriate quantity of food is prepared. Registrations for this FREE event are accepted through 11:59 PM on Friday, April 5, 2024.
